Embrace the Cell Phone Selfies at Your Wedding

You’ve put so much effort into creating the perfect wedding day and hiring your dream photographer, everything is going according to plan…

until someone whips out a phone to take a wedding selfie. Say cheese!

It’s frustrating, to say the least. How dare they be so presumptuous? Don’t they know how much time and energy went into planning the perfect event? But hold on, put those claws away, and check your ego at the door.

Chances are if someone’s whipping out their phone for a selfie, it’s because they’re having a BLAST and they just want to remember the moment. It’s a testament to the amazing party you’ve planned and you should rejoice in the fact that your guests are having such a fantastic time!

Just imagine, the other extreme is that you collect all cell phones in a basket and prevent people from contacting the outside world just to attend your wedding. Sounds a lot less fun, right?

You want your guests to feel comfortable, so maybe don’t ban phones Or selfies.

However, you are within your rights to express to your guests ahead of the big day, how important it is for you to share your own wedding photos first. Even if you come up with a special hashtag, you can always ask guests to observe a 2-day moratorium (or whatever length of time works for you) following the big day so that you have a moment to figure out how YOU want to share your news.

But I can guarantee…

eventually, you’ll want to see those photos.

Most newlyweds say the day flies by and you’ll appreciate the memories your guests captured while you were listening to Great Aunt Jo as you were trying to drink the expensive champagne you paid for.
